Designing for franchises comes with its own set of challenges — balancing consistency across multiple locations while still giving each store a sense of individuality. Over the years, we’ve had the privilege of working closely with Pattison’s Patisserie, designing more than 10 of their café locations across Sydney and beyond.

A Franchise with a Clear Brand Vision

One of the reasons we love collaborating with Pattison’s Patisserie is their strong sense of brand identity. They know who they are, who their audience is, and what their offering represents. This clarity makes designing for them both inspiring and rewarding. For Pattison’s, Franchise cafe interior design isn’t an afterthought — it’s a vital part of how they tell their brand story and create memorable experiences for their loyal customers.

A Unique Approach to Franchise Design

Unlike many other franchises that roll out cookie-cutter store templates, Pattison’s embraces a more thoughtful approach. Together, we developed a core set of design rules that ensure every new location feels unmistakably “Pattison’s.” These rules cover key brand elements — from materials and finishes to signature design motifs — that carry through each café.

But no two Pattison’s stores are ever exactly the same. Each location is given its own design twist to reflect its community and surroundings. This balance of consistency and individuality keeps the brand fresh while still recognisable, and it’s one of the reasons their cafés resonate so strongly with customers.

Feminine, Parisian, and Product-Led

At the heart of Pattison’s Patisserie is a design language inspired by femininity, Parisian patisserie culture, and of course, their beautiful products. From elegant finishes to delicate styling touches, every detail is chosen to celebrate the artistry of their cakes and pastries. The result is a franchise café interior design approach that feels warm, refined, and distinctly Pattison’s.

A Brand That Continues to Evolve

Our ongoing work with Pattison’s Patisserie highlights the importance of interior design in building a franchise brand. Each project allows us to explore new ways of expressing their story while remaining true to the essence of their identity. It’s a collaboration we’re proud of — and one that shows just how powerful design can be in shaping the café experience.

Looking Ahead: The ‘Petite’ Store Concept

Exciting new locations are on the horizon, with a fresh design vision for Pattison’s ‘Petite’ kiosks. These smaller-format stores follow the same design principles but introduce unique pressed timber finishes and crisp whites to create a clean, refined aesthetic. Keep an eye out for new kiosks opening soon at Kotara Westfield (a second instalment), Bondi Junction Westfield, and Chatswood Westfield — each bringing the Pattison’s experience to life in a bold new way.
